Paint Calculator: How to calculate the right amount of paint

Do you want to be sure how much paint you need for your paint job? Do you want to avoid buying too little or too much paint? Calculating the correct amount of paint is not an art, it depends on the area you are going to paint and the covering power of your paint. Covering power means the number of square meters you can paint with 1 litre of paint. Get your calculator!

How to calculate the area

You can easily calculate the surface area by multiplying the height and width of what you want to paint. But it doesn't stop there. For that flawless result, we recommend two coats of finishing paint. And don't forget to include the surface area of windows, doors and other no-go zones in your calculation.

Covering power: one paint is not the same as the other

The covering power of paint varies. For example, with 1 litre of primer, you usually cover less square metres than with 1 litre of lacquer. You will find information about the covering power in the technical details of each Shade product. But for a quick estimate, keep 10 m² per litre in mind. That's a handy average that will quickly help you on your way to the perfect amount of paint.
